Earlier this spring Stephen reported on Diana Leyden’s appointment to the Tax Court as a Special Trial Judge. Keith and I were at the Tax Court, as today was Diana’s investiture.
Chief Special Trial Judge Peter Panuthos, National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson, and Elizabeth Segovis, who directs the Rhode Island Legal Services Tax Clinic, spoke, as did Chief Judge Paige Marvel who delivered opening and closing remarks. Many friends, judges and members of Diana’s beautiful family were also in attendance.
We did not realize that Diana and her sisters have bonded for decades with song. Today we were given the opportunity to hear and feel their bond, and it was special, as were the words of many of the well-wishers.
We wish her great success on the bench. The next time we write about her will be when we engage one of her sure to be thoughtful and well-reasoned opinions!
